Finances

St Matthew's and All Saints' are non-profit-making charitable organisations which depend on the generous giving of church members, visitors and well-wishers. The giving of individuals is anonymous and not even the Rector knows who gives what! Each church has a Treasurer, elected annually from the Church Council (PCC) and church accounts are published annually, copies of which can be found here.

Every year, both churches contribute to central Church of England finances by means of the 'Parish Share', which pays for the Rector and the associated training, housing and pension costs. All other costs - including those associated with maintaining the historic buildings, holding regular services, running a wide variety of weekday activities, and the provision of grants to other individuals and organisations - are paid for by the giving through Sunday collections, the Parish Giving Scheme, Standing Orders, and occasional one-off gifts and legacies.
